Toni Kroos
A huge figure on Newcastle’s list is Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos, who could be coming to the end of a great career at the Bernabeu.
The experienced Germany international still has two years left on his Madrid contract, but one imagines he could be open to a new challenge after winning all there is to win during his time in Spanish football.
Kroos seems ideal for the style of football Howe likes to play, so this move makes perfect sense and could give Real the chance to ease their current financial woes.
Niklas Sule
Talks have supposedly already taken place over signing Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule, who has also been targeted by Chelsea.
The 26-year-old is a top talent and has had a fine career in the Bundesliga, though he no longer seems to be 100% guaranteed a place in Bayern’s starting XI, and will be a free agent next summer.
Newcastle now look to be hoping to convince him to move on earlier, as Bayern will surely want to cash in on him while they still can this winter.
Tyrone Mings
Finally, NUFC also seem set to try a raid on Premier League rivals Aston Villa for Tyrone Mings.
The England international has shone at Villa Park and looks like he could be an ideal signing for Howe to try building his defence around, especially if he can get Sule in as well.
All in all, it looks like exciting times ahead at St James’ Park under the new regime!
