West Ham line up bid to sign striker with five goals in 10 games

With only Danny Ings and Michail Antonio as their two out and out strikers, it’s completely understandable why a forward-looking West Ham might be wanting to delve into the transfer market again.

After shoring up their defence and midfield with some superb summer signings, the Hammers are still woefully short in attack, despite the club registering 16 goals overall in the Premier League this season.

If the east Londoners genuinely have aspirations to be a force domestically and in Europe, then there’s an obvious need to buy a striker who knows where the goal is.

RB Salzburg’s 19-year-old sensation, Karim Konate, has already hit five goals in 10 Austrian Bundesliga games this season per WhoScored, and according to 90Min, he remains on a hit-list of some of European football’s top strikers which also includes Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy and Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitike.

It isn’t clear at this stage if David Moyes and sporting director, Tim Steidten, have a list drawn up in terms of priority or whether they are casting the net as wide as possible on the continent and seeing the sort of reaction they receive.

What it does show is that the Hammers are again being pro-active in terms of transfer market acquisitions, rather than being reactive as they have been in the past.
