Chelsea star ‘on schedule’ to make important return from injury

Chelsea have been handed some good news.

Defender and captain Reece James is reportedly ‘on schedule’ to make his long-awaited return from injury.

Enduring a tough campaign, James, 24, has been plagued with injuries, particularly to his hamstring, with his latest setback, which he suffered at the end of last year, causing him to miss his side’s last 20 matches.

However, on the road to recovery, the 24-year-old Englishman took to social media to update fans on his training progress. Showing his boots off, the full-back has clearly resumed on-grass training — a major boost as Chelsea prepare for an important second half of the season.

And adding to the defender’s teasing post, Football London journalist Bobby Vincent, who posted on his X account, said: “On this, understand Reece James is progressing well and is on schedule. Those around him, though, are reluctant (understandably) to put a specific timeframe on when he will return.”

Although James’ return date is still unknown, there will be hope he can get back into first-team contention before the season’s crucial run-in.

However, dislodging the in-form Malo Gusto may prove trickier than before. The 20-year-old Frenchman, who has registered two assists in his last two games, has been a standout performer in James’ absence.
