West Ham set to cash in on ace with five goals and six assists in 2023/24

This summer could be an interesting one for West Ham United, particularly if the club decide to part with manager, David Moyes.

The Scot was thought to be close to signing a new deal with the Hammers, but the manner of their 6-0 annihilation at the hands of London rivals, Arsenal, has arguably meant everyone has taken a rain check on that decision.

It put into context just how much further the game has moved on, but Moyes is stuck in the distant past with his safety first tactics.

If the Hammers board really do want to be seen as progressive, then there’s surely only one decision that they can make.

One that was made last year but never made it over the final hurdle was a transfer for Lucas Paqueta to Man City.

It’s believed that a betting scandal is what put the Premier League champions off, however, almost a year later nothing has come of it and, as Football Insider report, the Cityzens are looking to close the deal this summer.

More importantly, the report says that West Ham are willing to accept the move as long as the price is right.

Shorn of their best and most creative player, it’s difficult to see how West Ham replace him, and despite him being injured for a while now, his five goals and six assists in 2023/24 went a long way to pushing the Irons up the table.

That they haven’t won since he’s been out of the side is an ominous sign indeed.
