Liverpool to make “last minute” decision on Salah ahead of Carabao Cup final

Liverpool will contest the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday and the Reds may be without their star player, Mohamed Salah.

The Merseyside club have a bit of an injury crisis at present heading into the Wembley showpiece and speaking ahead of the contest at a press conference on Friday, Liverpool assistant boss Pep Lijnders has provided an update on some of the club’s wounded stars.

Despite returning to action against Brentford last weekend, Salah was absent for the Reds’ victory over Luton Town on Wednesday, and the Premier League giants will make a “last minute” decision on the Egyptian superstar for the cup final

“We come in a crazy schedule again, so we play every three days. It’s important for us to use each minute, use each day to really look how the players are. This is for Mo, Dom and Darwin,” Lijnders said via Liverpoolfc.com.

“Two training sessions to go, let’s see how they are and then we can make a decision in the last minute.”

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is a doubt for the Carabao Cup final

Salah could miss the Carabao Cup final for Liverpool

Salah returned from the Africa Cup of Nations injured and having had a big impact against Brentford last Saturday, the winger received a setback.

Ahead of the Carabao Cup final, this is a big blow as the Egypt international is Jurgen Klopp’s biggest goal threat. The 31-year-old is once again enjoying an impressive campaign, scoring 19 goals and assisting a further 10 across the 28 matches he has featured in.

This is an even bigger setback considering Liverpool’s other absentees but Klopp will be hoping to have one or two back to face Chelsea.
