Fabrizio Romano says he expects to have important developments soon on the future of highly-rated Bologna manager Thiago Motta, who has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Juventus.

The Italian tactician has done hugely impressive work at Bologna, turning the club into genuine top four contenders in Serie A this season, though it remains to be seen if he’ll be there for much longer.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Romano provided some insight into the managerial situation at Juventus, suggesting Massimiliano Allegri could leave his position at the end of the season, while there would be something more concrete on Motta to come soon.

Meanwhile, Motta has also been linked as an option appreciated by Man Utd in a report from Alfredo Pedulla, though he said no contact has been made yet.

Could Thiago Motta replace Massimiliano Allegri?

It remains to be seen if the Red Devils could step up their interest in Motta, or indeed another manager, with Erik ten Hag not proving too convincing in his time at Old Trafford so far.

Motta update soon, says Fabrizio Romano

Discussing Motta’s future, Romano said: “Another interesting name to follow could be Thiago Motta after the superb job he’s done at Bologna.

Juventus have been linked by some outlets, while my information remains that current Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri is expected to leave at the end of the season. That’s the feeling and the news my sources are telling me. On Motta, I will have important developments soon.”

Juve fans will surely be hoping they can persuade Motta to stay in Italy, but it may be that the chance to manage one of the Premier League’s biggest names like United would be too difficult for Motta to turn down.

Either way, we’ll have to wait a bit longer before we get a clear idea what the future could hold for Motta.
