Exclusive: There is “strong” interest in one of Liverpool’s most important players, says transfer expert

There remains strong interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League in a potential summer transfer window swoop for important Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Romano provided us with his latest information on the Salah situation amid fresh transfer rumours about the Egypt international and a possible bid being on the way from Al Ittihad.

Although Romano played down talk of any big offer being in the works from any specific club at the moment, he did admit that Saudi interest in Salah remains, so it could be one to watch out for a little later on this year.

“Despite some speculation to the contrary, I’m not aware of imminent proposals and I’m told nothing is happening now/April in general,” Romano said.

“Interest in Salah from Saudi remains strong but it’s not time for proposals, not even for talks from what I’m told.”

Salah transfer exit would be another huge blow for Liverpool this summer

Liverpool fans will hope this doesn’t amount to anything much as they surely can’t afford to be losing an experienced and world class performer like Salah right now with everything else that’s going on.

It’s already destabilising enough as it is that legendary manager Jurgen Klopp will be stepping down as manager at the end of the season after nine years in charge, while there was also plenty of upheaval last summer as long-serving club captain Jordan Henderson left, along with other important figures like James Milner and Fabinho.

Salah may be getting on a bit, but he remains a crucial part of this LFC side and the new manager will surely want to have him on board for a while longer in what is sure to be a challenging start at Anfield.
