Switzerland took the lead in the 75th minute through Breel Embolo. However, England responded swiftly, with Bukayo Saka scoring a superb goal from outside the box just five minutes later to equalise.

The match went to extra time and then penalties. England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made a crucial save by stopping Manuel Akanji’s spot kick.
England’s penalty takers—Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Ivan Toney, and Trent Alexander-Arnold—all converted their attempts, sending England through to the semi-finals.
England fans erupted in celebration both inside the stadium and outside. One particularly viral clip on X (formerly Twitter) captured the wild nature of the celebrations.
It shows an England supporter accidentally strangling another fan as he had his arm around his neck while celebrating, not realising the other fan is struggling to breathe.
