Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Mathys Tel’s situation at Bayern Munich, as he could now be on his way to the Premier League.

The talented 19-year-old striker has struggled for playing time at Bayern and it perhaps makes sense that he now seems to be seeking a late move away from the Allianz Arena before the end of the January window.

Although Arsenal aren’t specifically mentioned, we know that the Gunners are in need of a new striker this winter, and have so far struggled to bring anyone in.

“I’ll NEVER say sorry!” – which ex-Arsenal star says he was “really p***ed off” with how he was treated before leaving?

So, with some unnamed Premier League clubs now in for Tel, could this be Romano hinting that the Emirates Stadium could yet emerge as an option for the Frenchman?

Chelsea seem to be the main name in the mix, but there are clearly other teams involved as well, and it would make sense for Arsenal to move if Tel is now available.

Gabriel Jesus is now out with a serious long-term injury, leaving Mikel Arteta overly reliant on Kai Havertz up front, with the Spanish tactician speaking publicly about working on strengthening his side in this winter’s market.

Could Mathys Tel be the answer for Arsenal?

We might be speaking a bit soon, as there’s no concrete interest from Arsenal being confirmed at the moment, but this move simply seems like too good an opportunity for the Gunners not to be involved.

We’ll have to see if there are further developments in the coming hours or days, with there likely to be plenty of other clubs also keen on this exciting youngster.

Arsenal would be taking a big gamble, however, if they didn’t bring in another attacking player before the February 3rd deadline.

It may be that their preference is to wait to land their dream target in the summer, but if Tel could perhaps join on a short-term loan that seems like a win-win for all involved.

  1. The Arsenal board are not acting normal by not bringing attack options so far this January. I don’t know why Arteta is anathema to signing strikers for us. If Havertz breaks down now, that will be totally disastrous, especially with Gabriel Jesus out for a very long term. If there is no attack reinforcement, then let’s just forget about winning even a tea cup this season…It’s so frustrating to say the least.

    1. Those who regularly criticise Havertz may soon change their tune if he is injured as we could well slide down the League table without him.I am sure Arteta is fully aware of the potential consequences of not bringing in another forward in this window.I liken our situation to that of a stuttering car which needs a component ,in the short term to keep it running. The matter of possibly changing the car can wait until our finances have improved, but the urgent repair is essential now.
