Liverpool have had a difficult season so far, with a number of their players having dropped in performance compared to the previous campaign. Mohamed Salah is one of these, with the reigning Premier League golden boot winner having even been dropped from the regular starting line-up of late.
Salah did not feature at all from the bench in last weekend’s victory at West Ham, while he came off at half time in the midweek draw against Liverpool. Arne Slot made the bold chance not to start him for either match, especially considering the ramifications that could happen regarding the 33-year-old’s happiness status.
Mohamed Salah unhappy with substitute role at Liverpool

Amid speculation that Saudi Pro League clubs could sign Salah in 2026, it has been confirmed by Pete O’Rourke (via Football Insider) that the Egyptian has not been happy with being left on the bench by Slot.
“Obviously that speculation has resurfaced because he’s found himself out of the starting XI for the last two games. He’s started consecutive games now on the bench, against West Ham and Sunderland.
“You know one’s things for certain, Salah won’t be happy on the bench at Liverpool, he won’t want to play a bit-part role in the side after his unbelievable performances last season. It’s a difficult time for him and a difficult time for everybody in the Liverpool squad, they’re not performing at the levels they should be.
“Speculation will start to bubble again now because he’s not in that starting line-up for Arne Slot’s team. He’s made a brave decision to leave him out of the last two games. They’ve got a win and a draw in those two games, but it’ll be interesting to see if Salah is restored to the starting line-up against Leeds this weekend.”
Could Mohamed Salah leave Liverpool in 2026?
It will be interesting to see how the remainder of the season goes for Salah and Liverpool. Should he get back to his best, he would have chances to stay at Anfield for another season, but right now, it appears that an exit in 2026 is more likely than not.

Salah needs to be dropped he thinks he is elite and should start every game he has not been playing well enough to start and I don’t think he should start to day either Rio and chesia need to start.
Gakpo should be dropped for Chiesa next game. pity we havent more defenders as Konate cost us the game v Leeds what was he thinking of with that tackle, IF Virgil keeps backing off he will be in Goal with Alisson .Ok Mo hasnt found last seasons form ,but Mo needs to be on the pitch in the next 2 games, even if he doesnt start .
The legends & stars has to be treated differently, We have never seen Messi,Ronaldo or Gerrard benched in such a way . Other players like VVD for instance are too slow, making big silly mistakes costing the team to loose the games but never been touched /benched.
Liverpool Managment is overpatient /overlooking all these losses until when ???? ,Unless they have another plan to gain money regardless of loosing main supportive players ,in fact world class legends
