Despite so many transfer rumours linking the Reds with Diomande in recent times, it seems Lewis Steele is hearing that there’s some uncertainty about going ahead with this deal.
Diomande has shone for Leipzig, but he remains relatively inexperienced, while the 19-year-old’s numbers are arguably not that outstanding at the moment.

Is Yan Diomande good enough for Liverpool?
While there’s perhaps a case for saying Diomande’s numbers don’t stand out as anything that special, with 13 goals and seven assists so far this season, there are also other things to take into consideration.
Firstly, LFC urgently need to replace Mohamed Salah, with the legendary Egyptian forward set to depart the club at the end of the season.
Secondly, even if Diomande himself looks a little overpriced considering his form and lack of experience, it’s also not like there are that many other options out there right now.
It’s a difficult market for attacking players, with other obvious candidates like Michael Olise surely unrealistic and too expensive.

Look at Salah’s figures before joining LFC in 2017 for 43.9m with bonuses (approx.60m today), they were not that special but he had pace and although he did not do well at Chelsea they saw potential and look what happened. Yes 85m is expensive (Same amount NUFC want for Gordon – who is also 6 years older) but we know the transfers are increased for Premier league clubs, but this kid has everything we need and he is more of a bargain than say spending 125m on an injury prone striker.

It’s down to the fact Diomande has only played about 50 games as a professional footballer. So yes £85m is crazy money. I do like the look of him though

its a no trainer. He is the only realistic option. Gordon has experience but he doesnt have ‘jump off the screen’ stats either. If they were proactive they could have got Maduke, Eze or Semenyo and Cherki was there for the taking..
