Arsene Wenger has been left reeling after Gokhan Inler snubbed a move to Arsenal.
The Switzerland international, 24, had been earmarked to replace Mathieu Flamini in the Gunners’ midfield.
But the Udinese star has now rejected the chance to move to the Emirates.
Inler’s agent Dino Lamberti revealed his client has decided to remain in Italy and has extended his contract with the Serie A side until 2013.
Yet he also refused to rule out a move to the Premier League giants next summer.
Lamberti said: “We have decided that Gogi remains with Udinese.
“The big step to Arsenal would be purely a bit too early for Inler as a person. Maybe he will be ripe in a year.” (The Sun)

Clearly the Swiss international has a mischievous agent! Hours after his client signs a contract supposedly securing his services to Udinese for a further five years, Inler’s representative is hinting that next summer may be a good time for Wenger to come calling again, very odd but in no way surprising behaviour from an agent! £9m-rated Gokhan is a pretty decent player but, of the wealth of central midfielders linked with a move to the Emirates, he is by no means at the top of the list. Who do Gunners fans want to see signed to help beef up the midfield?
