Newcastle nut says he’s a clean man after summer of shame: Does anyone believe him?

Newcastle’s Joey Barton claims he’s got a new sense of purpose in life after going through the entire ordeal of the summer. While that’s all fine and good, the real question left is: do you really believe a word coming out of his mouth?

Barton told Sky Sports News: “In some people’s minds, I will never be forgiven, and so be it.

“But at the end of the day, I know I am living my life clean, I am living my life in the right way.

“All I am interested in is repaying people’s faith who have shown that faith in me.

“At the end of the day, I have stepped out of line a few times now, but nothing before has ever been as serious as it was in the summer when I had to go to jail, in front of courts and really know what life is all about.

“It has taken that. Some people, they never get that far down the line. It has taken that for me to sit up and take notice.

“I have probably had more chances than anyone deserves, I am the first to admit that. (ESPNSoccernet)

Barton seems to have more lives than a cat! Countless times he’s been slapped on the wrist, only to come back to the game and tarnish his image once again. Who’s to say these words aren’t just a ploy to get him back in the starting XI? I’ll guess we’ll never know until he’s back playing for the club.

Do Newcastle supporters believe anything Barton says?
