Chelsea skipper claims Arsenal are still in the title race: Does anyone agree with his statement?
by offsidetrap on November 17th, 2008 319 words | 5 commentsCount John Terry among the few who still believe that Arsenal are still a legitimate contender for the Premier League title. Whilst other were writing the London club off after their weekend defeat to Aston Villa, Terry made it clear that Arsene Wenger’s club will still be there at the end of the season!
John Terry has warned his Chelsea team-mates they will be making a big mistake if they rule Arsenal out of the title race.
Chelsea moved nine points clear of the Gunners after they won 3-0 at West Bromwich while Arsene Wenger’s men lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa.
But Terry believes their London rivals will stay in the race for the rest of the season along with Liverpool and Manchester United.
Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side face Arsenal at Stamford Bridge a week on Sunday with the return at Emirates Stadium in May and Terry feels they will have to win both games to stay ahead of them.
‘I still consider Arsenal a contender, you should never write off the big sides,’ said the Chelsea skipper.
‘They have the players to do it and they will put a run together. We still have to play them at home and away and anything can happen. We have to make sure we pick up the six points against them in those two games. (Daily Mail)
Terry is right, anything can happen. But do Arsenal seriously have a shot at winning the league title? Nine points off the mark and struggling to find consistent form, the London club looked absolutely dreadful against an Aston Villa squad that had been off the last couple of weeks. Wenger is complaining that his club is tired, while players are claiming last weekend’s loss was one of the worst they’ve ever seen. Is that that type of club that really has a shot at the Premier League title?
What do you think? Are Arsenal still in the race?

Either Mr.Terry’s being too modest or he’s talking abt the next season…
Cuz We dont stand a chance this season…
not wit t current crop of players…
unless chelsea, manu n liverpool hav extreme bad luck n lose to clubs like stoke n fulham… or just lose games deliberately…just to ensure arsenal wins t prem( wich wont happen)
arsenal’s prem hopes r over… adebayor, rvp n fabregas r all goin out next season… probably nasri n walcott may join them…
albeit gallas n silvestre wont go nowher (cos ther aint a single club tat’ll want such shite defenders )…
almunia will definately stay… cos no other team in t prem will ensure him 1st team football… not even stoke…
wenger’s least bothered abt winning ny trophies… this season is yet another trophyless season @ the emirates… just strengthens t reasoning tat arsenal is an un ambitious feeder club….
wenger n the board r hell bent on proving the same…
KEEP IT UP WENGER… in ARSENE WE TRUST…

ofcourse they are…. around this time last year arsenal had an 8 point lead in the prem on man u n chelsea n liverpool. currently there only 9 points behind with only a 1/4 of the season played.
anything can happen in the premier league, if chelsea n liverpool buckle they will open doors for arsenal and united, it can so easily happen wen ur at the top , on ebad result can have a domino effect on the rest of ur season as arsenal proved last season.
the pressures all on the top three atm, lets see if they can handle it

Usual meaningless “cautious” statement from a footballer.
Anyone with any understanding of football (and not just points totals) can see that this is not a Title-winning side.
At the beginning of the season, to drop in a boast, I predicted we’d finish 3rd or 4th, have some one-off brilliant games but still be inconsistent and defend abysmally. This is happening, and will continue to May.
Shame. Such talent, but no cigar.

I think I get the gist of what the completely illiterate Mr poor spuds says, something like “we aren’t going to win and all our players are rubbish and wenger should go”. These kind of comments are SOOOOO boring. I wish people like him would shut up so that the 99% of us who back the manager could have our voices – and support – heard. Moron, moron, moron.

They will have a say in the league as they (arsenal)play well against the top clubs like chelsea but they wont win the league and they will fight to finish 4th unless they buy an experienced partner for cesc or even a player that can step-in and take cesc´s place from time to time.the squad is talented but not strong either mentally o physically.
