This youngster has been a Premier League target for some time but it finally looks like he may well be moving upwards in the summer.

Premier League rivals Everton and Aston Villa are said to be be in a race to sign England Under-21 International Andrew Surman from Championship side Southampton in the summer, according to The Daily Star.

22-year-old Surman has been one of a few bright sparks for the Saints this season, with the South Coast club fighting a relegation battle to avoid the dropping down to the third-tier of English football.

Toffees manager David Moyes sees the South African born midfielder as having the ability to succeed in the Premiership, while Villans boss Martin O’Neill is also reportedly a big admirer of Surman and is eager to bring the midfielder to Midlands club. (Premiershiplatest.com)

Andrew Surman has been attracting interest ever since his Southampton debut over three years ago and his performances over the past month have given the club a fighting chance of avoiding the drop to League One but whether he keeps the Saints up or not it does seem likely the highly rated midfielder will be on his way to a Premier League outfit and these two mentioned in this report both have a lot to offer. Aston Villa are of course fighting for a Champions League spot and with Martin O’Neill at the helm have a bright and healthy future and David Moyes continues to drive Everton in the right direction and but for some horrible injury problems could even have his side even higher than their respectable sixth spot. So who would he opt for?
