Schalke Defender Christophe Metzelder Keen On Move to Bayern Munich

German centre back flattered by reported interest from Bundesliga leaders.

Schalke centre back Christophe Metzelder has admitted that he if flattered by reports suggesting that he could be  set for a summer move to Bayern Munich according to Sky Sports.

The German defender has struggled with injuries this season that has largely prevented him for appearing for his side.

Metzelder admitted this could well be his last season as a player as he admits defeat in his battle for fitness.

Bayern Munich are set to appoint former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola this summer and the Spanish boss has reportedly identified Metzelder as someone he would like as part of his coaching team.

Guardiola is thought to be a fan of Metzelder’s language skills and in depth knowledge of the German game.

Metzelder is able to speak Spanish following his time with giants Real Madrid.

Metzelder has insisted that he has made no decision over his future as of yet but that talks were ongoing with a number of parties.

The German international has not ruled out continuing to play but expressed his desire to go into coaching or management should he find himself hanging up his boots.

Metzelder did confirm that either way, he would be leaving Schalke come the summer.
