Premier League duo Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are both set to go head to head in the race to land in-demand Atletico Mineiro midfield player Bernard this summer, although the pair face stiff competition for the Brazilian’s signature from three other big-name clubs from the Continent, according to exclusive reports in the Daily Mail.

The Brazil international has already hinted that he is now prepared to leave his club following the conclusion to the outcome of this season’s Copa Libertadores final, with Mineiro taking on Paraguayan side Olimpia in the second leg of the South American show-piece event next Wednesday.

After which it is expected that the 20-year-old will announce which European side he will be playing for next season, with Mineiro president Alexandre Kalil having already rejected one offer of £15.5 million from Portuguese giants FC Porto for his coveted wide man.

And with fellow continental heavyweights Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Dortmund also both reportedly interested in the attacking left winger, it is understood that a fee somewhere between £18m and £20m will see Bernard exit Belo Horizonte this summer after three years with the club, during which time he has scored 11 goals in 59 appearances and won five Brazil caps.
