Bayern’s CEO thinks Gotze will become one of the best players in the world following his move from Borussia Dortmund earlier in the summer.
Karl Heinz Rummenigge thinks Mario Gotze will flourish at Bayern Munich and become one of the best players in the world, Goal.com reports.
Gotze joined Bayern in controversial circumstances earlier in the summer, moving from bitter rivals Borussia Dortmund for £31.5 million.
Bayern’s CEO thinks Gotze made the right decision in joining Bayern and has backed the play-maker to become one of the world’s top players during his time with the European Champions.
“He’s on the way to world stardom and will make this step at Bayern,” Rummenigge told reporters.
“He has the quality to continue to make us successful.”
Gotze has yet to make his official debut for Bayern as he tries to overcome a hamstring injury but will face plenty of competition for a place in the Bayern midfield when he does reach full fitness.
The European Champions signed Thiago Alcantara earlier in the summer and the Spaniard plays in a similar position to where Gotze will hope to play.
However, Rummenigge thinks that once all the squad are fully fit they will all fit together and will be in the perfect position to replicate the success that the club had last season.
“In addition to Gotze, we have Javi Martinez, Thiago and [Bastian] Schweinsteiger who are yet to reach their best condition, but when they do, Bayern will win with beautiful football,” he said.
