Everton manager Roberto Martinez is not surprised to hear of interest from Juventus in exciting young striker Romelu Lukaku, according to the Metro.

The 20-year-old is on loan at Goodison Park from Chelsea this season, having impressed during his time at West Brom last season in a temporary switch away from Stamford Bridge as well.

Although he is highly rated as one of Chelsea’s most exciting young players, it has been suggested that he could fail to break into the first team picture there soon, alerting several of Europe’s top clubs, now including Italian champions Juventus.

Martinez rates the player highly as well, and says it is no surprise after his continued fine form at Everton that top clubs are looking at him, though he admits he hadn’t heard anything concrete about interest from Serie A.

“That’s the first time I’ve heard that (Juventus link),” he said.

“It doesn’t surprise me. What matters is that he is enjoying his football.

“I thought his away debut (45 minutes and a goal against West Ham) was impressive, I think the home debut (90 minutes and two goals against Newcastle) was exciting to watch.”

Lukaku already has 3 goals and 1 assist in just four appearances for Everton, having moved to the Toffees on deadline day after rejecting the chance to join West Brom for a second spell on loan.

Juventus may be on the lookout for a striker as soon as this January with the future of Fernando Llorente somewhat up in the air.
