Stoke City Set Sights On Everton Forward

Britannia Stadium side want Goodison Park striker.

Check in to Stoke City vs Aston Villa

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has set his sights on Everton forward Nikica Jelavic according to the Daily Mail.

Stoke City’s first choice striking weapon, Jonathan Walters, has managed just one goal in 14 Premier League fixtures this season, so it’s understandable that Hughes would look to sign another striker and by all accounts Everton are willing to listen to offers for Jelavic.

Goodison Park boss Roberto Martinez has made it clear he would be willing to sell the Croatian by stating;

“If the right thing appears for the players, I will have to consider it and look into it,” the Spaniard said.

“I am quite open-minded about it. If they don’t play minutes. It will affect their World Cup chances. I can understand that.

“Because they are such good professionals I have to consider “But it’s a balancing act and we can’t weaken the squad.”

Jelavic has started just five of 16 Premier League fixtures this season and is without a goal and knows that a lack of first team football could negatively impact his chances of a prominent role in Croatia’s World Cup plans.

The former Rangers man made a great start to his Toffees career, scoring nine goals in ten Premier League starts in his first season at Everton, but has since struggled for form and last scored for the club in March.
