The Premier League duo have been chasing the 29-year-old for some time and were placed on high alert after he told the club that he wanted to move on to seek a fresh challenge in the summer.

And Marseille coach Jose Anigo has confessed that he would be willing to let the French international leave, in recognition of his years of first class service.

“If we received a good offer, we won’t force him to stay. He has given a lot to our club so if he wants to he can leave,” Anigo told Le10Sport.

Valbuena’s current deal expires in 2017, and despite his age he will still likely command healthy fee that the side from the French riviera will look to reinvest after seeing their season fall apart this year.

Valbuena joined Marseille in 2006 and has gone on to make 289 appearances for the club, scoring 35 goals and notching up 44 assists in the process.
