Brendan Rodgers made a cheeky dig at Spurs during his Friday press conference by saying “They should be challenging for title after spending £100 million on players”.
With the Reds still firmly in the title race the Northern Irishman took the chance to gloat slightly over his Premier League rivals as they continue to struggle to book a place in next season’s Europa League.
And with the two side’s meeting this weekend Rodgers sought to deflect the pressure from his players even further by piling even more on his opposite number Tim Sherwood.
