Manchester United manager could be moving closer to securing the signing of another world class star, according to the Daily Star, with Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan now firmly on Louis van Gaal’s radar.
The Old Trafford club aren’t the only Premier League giants to have been interested in Turan this summer, with the club’s fierce local rivals Liverpool also reportedly having expressed an interest in signing the Turkish international.
The former Galatasaray star was a key component in Atletico’s stunning La Liga title victory – and may have tipped the balance in their favour in the Champions League final against Real Madrid had he been available to play.
Van Gaal has already added Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw to his squad for huge fees, but the feeling around Old Trafford is that at least one more big transfer will go through this summer.
Turan would fit the bill, with his industy and creativity nicely suited to the fluid, quick style of football that the Dutchman is likely to impose on the former Premier League champions.
United started their new era in fine fashion with a 7-0 victory of the Los Angeles Galaxy this week, and the signing of a player such as Turan would allow for even more optimism at the club.
