Chelsea and Liverpool are set for a fight over the future of Andre Ayew, the Olympique Marseille attacking midfielder, according to the Mirror.
The Ghanaian’s contact runs out next summer, so the English clubs can offer the player a contract in January. Marseille, having tried everything to keep their star, have now accepted he wants to leave and will try to sell him in the New Year rather than let him leave for free this summer.
After several good seasons in Ligue 1 and an impressive performance at the 2014 World Cup, it is no surprise to see top Premier League clubs join the chase. Not only would “Dede” Ayew be cheap, he is also one of the few top players available in January who are’t cup tied for the Champions League.
Marseille manager Marcelo Bielsa has already fallen out with his board over transfer issues, and he is unlikely to be happy about losing a star for free.
