Reports in the French media – sourced here by Goal.com – claim that the Dutch club are closing in on the 19-year-old, who has also attracted interest from Italian giants Roma and Manchester United.
The Daily Express explains that the France international was constantly linked with a move away from PSG in the summer, with the likes of Marco Verratti, Blaise Matuidi, Thiago Motta and Yohan Cabaye favoured higher in the club’s midfield pecking order.
His current contract runs out at the end of the season and was expected to leave for England in January in a cut-price deal, but now it appears as if Ajax have stolen a march in the race for the popular starlet’s signature.
The Dutch club do of course have a fine reputation for helping young players reach their potential, having helped produce the likes of Dennis Bergkamp, Luis Suarez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and perhaps the players feels he is more suited to a stepping stone move prior to a Premier League switch.
