Gunners still interested in West Ham star Winston Reid.

Arsenal remain interested in the signing of West Ham United centre back Winston Reid, report the Mirror, with the New Zealand international having put in a fine performance for the Hammers during their shock 2-1 victory over title holders Manchester City this weekend.

Reid could be the man who solves the Gunners’ lack of defensive depth, with Arsene Wenger currently only having Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker as fit centre backs, whilst he could also be available cheaply due to the fact that his contract expires at the end of the season.

West Ham signed Reid following his displays for New Zealand at the 2010 World Cup and the former FC Midtjylland man has slowly blossomed into one of the finest defenders outside of the top four in England, with his solid positioning backed up by a turn of pace and no shortage of quality on the ball.

Arsenal are believed to be sounding out defensive options for January after seeing their lack of options exposed in the early weeks of the season, with the likes of Mathieu Debuchy, Kieran Gibbs and Laurent Koscielny all having spent time ruled out of the team through injury – and Reid could be just the man to solve their problems.
