Sampdoria keen on signing the experienced striker.

Experienced Everton striker Samuel Eto’o looks set for a return to Italian football and Serie A, with the Mail reporting that the Cameroonian has been offered a two and a half year deal by high flying outfit Sampdoria after he fell out of favour under Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park.

Eto’o joined Everton from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer, after he was released on a free transfer by Jose Mourinho, but despite some good performances he has largely played second fiddle to big money signing Romelu Lukaku and is reportedly keen to return to his family home in Milan, with his family having stayed after he left Inter for Merseyside.

Everton are keen on the deal but are still considering the finer terms of the agreement before giving it the go ahead, but it seems likely that Eto’o will be moving to Sampdoria in the near future, with his first objective helping the side to continue overachieving and challenge for qualification for next season’s Champions League.

With Arouna Kone still recovering from a serious long term injury, the move could also encourage Martinez to move into the transfer market, for additional back up for Lukaku.
