The 22-year-old is still yet to make his La Liga debut this season thanks to the superb form being displayed by fellow new recruit Claudio Bravo.

Having paid Borussia Monchengladbach £10m over the summer, coach Luis Enrique has relegated him to the role of cup goalkeeper, where he has been slowly showing why he has been worth the outlay.

However, following Barca’s 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the Copa Del Rey on Wednesday, the young shot stopper admitted that he ideally wants to be playing every week in the league.

“For now, the manager counts on me for the Cup and Champions League, but I’d like to play in the league,” he said.

“I want La Liga, even if Bravo is doing a good job.”

His comments have put Reds boss Brendan Rodgers on high alert as he continues to search for a replacement for Simon Mignolet.

Reports in Spain are now claiming that Rodgers could make a move to bring him to Anfield on loan until the end of the season to give him the weekly football that he craves.
