Ameobi is available after opting to leave Turkish side Gaziantep.

West Bromwich Albion are set to hand a deal to free agent striker Shola Ameobi as Tony Pulis looks to beef up his attacking options, report the Mail, with the target man now available on a free transfer after leaving Turkish Super League outfit Gaziantep recently.

Ameobi left Newcastle United on a free transfer at the end of last season after spending the majority of his career at St. James’ Park, where brother Sammy Ameobi still plies his trade, and joined the Turkish side in search of a new challenge that hasn’t quite worked out for the experienced Nigerian international.

He could now be keen on a return to the Premier League, with new Baggies manager Tony Pulis set to offer Ameobi a second crack at the English top flight as he looks to add more options to a West Brom team that he has been tasked with steering away from the relegation zone.

The goals of Saido Berahino have been perhaps the best thing about the Baggies this season, but the struggles of both record signing Brown Ideye and Victor Anichebe, both of whom are international teammates of Ameobi, has forced Pulis into the market.
