Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling Will Be Best Player In Premier League, Says Besiktas Boss

High-hopes for the Anfield winger.

Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic has heaped the praise on Liverpool’s star winger Raheem Sterling ahead of Thursday’s night Europa League clash.

The young Reds star is facing a race against time to be fit for the clash, having missed the last two games with a foot injury, and boss Brendan Rodgers will make a late call on whether he is included in the squad.

Nonetheless, Bilic voiced his belief that Sterling has all the qualities to go on to become the biggest star in the Premier League, and is worried about the damage the 20-year-old can cause to his team if he returns tomorrow:

“He can be the next big player in English football. The best. He’s got the speed and the confidence,” Bilic was quoted by the The Sun.

“He’s not the strongest but he’s everything but afraid. He goes into tackles and is very strong. Most definitely he can be. He’s not yet but he can be and he should be.”

“His finishing needs to improve, yeah, but you know what? His legs are too quick to be calm in front of the keeper. Sometimes he should slow down his strikes,” he continued.

“He’s coming into most of his chances in lighting speed and should slow down. It comes with experience. It came to Thierry Henry. He will never be like Robin van Persie. Sterling is not a typical goalscorer.”

“He’s young. He’s going to improve his finishing, everything. But whether he’s going to be Alan Shearer I don’t know.”

Sterling’s future with the Reds, however, is worryingly uncertain for fans; due to wage demands and interest from Real Madrid, the winger might not extend his stay at Anfield.

Still, what is certain is that at 20-years-old, Sterling has the potential to become a world-class talent.
