Burnley sprung a surprise as they beat Manchester City at Turf Moor, thanks to a wonderful strike from George Boyd. The defeat means that Manuel Pellegrini’s side could fall eight points off Chelsea, if Jose Mourinho’s team can beat Southampton tomorrow.
City’s performance was disappointing as both Sergio Aguero and David Silva squandered chances for the away side.
They were punished around the hour mark for blowing those half chances, as George Boyd smashed home a half volley from the edge of the City area, which left Joe Hart helpless in goal.
But City will feel hard done by after Pablo Zabaleta was brought down in the area, seemingly illegally, but the referee penalised the full-back for diving.
