The Chilean coach could be dismissed as City coach after just two years at the helm after failing to take his side further than the quarterfinals in the Champions League during his tenure and effectively conceding their Premier League title to Chelsea .

The club have also crashed out in the League and FA Cups to lesser sides this campaign whilst they are now having to look over their shoulder at the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool who could now all overtake them into second before the end of the season.

However, Fernando says City should keep faith with their current manager.

“Manuel is an excellent manager. He gives us a lot of confidence, is a very calm manager and listens to us a lot which is a good way to work,” said the midfielder, reports Daily Star.

“He is also a very experienced manager – we have a lot to learn from him and he still has a lot to give.

“We are still fighting for the title and as long as it is mathematically possible, we will do our best to win.

“We have eight games ahead of us and will do our best to win all of them and win the Premier League at the end.”

If Pellegrini is forced out by the City hierarchy, La Liga bosses Carlo Ancelotti and Diego Simeone are said to be favourites to replace him.
