The France international spent seven seasons with Arsenal before leaving the Emirates Stadium as a free agent after his contract expired last summer, and made the switch to Manchester City, joining up with former Gunners team-mates Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy.

However, despite signing a three-year deal, the full-back has been limited to cameo appearances since his arrival, with Pablo Zabaleta remaining Manuel Pellegrini’s first-choice at right-back.

According to the Daily Star, Monaco and Inter have the 32-year-old on their summer wish-list, and are willing to part with £4m to acquire his signature.

AS Monaco could prove most valuable for the Citizens, with a swap deal involving their left-back Layvin Kurzawa mooted.
