Earlier this month, reports cited in the Daily Mail claimed that Juve were on the brink of finalising a deal with the Uruguayan striker, however changes within the Turin camp mean that his signing isn’t necessary.

According to talkSPORT, with the signing of Palermo’s Paulo Dybala confirmed and Carlos Tevez having been persuaded to remain for another season with the Champions League finalists, their attack no longer requires further bolstering in the summer transfer window.

Cavani has been linked with an exit from the Parc des Princes throughout the 2014-15 season, as a result of his frustration at being played out of position on the wing – with Zlatan Ibrahimovic preferred in the central position up front [via the Daily Mail].

Manchester United are the favourites to land the 28-year-old now that Juventus have left the chase, talkSPORT report, but they may have to fend off interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.
