The news comes in light of considerable interest in the left-back’s services.

Arsenal have been linked with the 21-year-old [Daily Mail], while Atletico Madrid, Olympique Lyonnais and Aston Villa are also understood to be keen on the full-back, according to L’Equipe.

The French source report that Amavi’s suitors would need to part with at least €7 million to sign the defender, although it appears as though the Aiglons are looking to tie down their man and stave off the attention he’s receiving in his services.

It may be that the youngster signs a new deal with a clause in his contract allowing him to leave after one year of service—an option raised by L’Equipe—although it remains to be seen whether interested parties would look to sway the player with a move this summer.

The player’s current deal runs until 2017, meaning that if Nice don’t succeed with their attempt to extend his existing contract, he could leave for a cut price next summer.

Amavi was one of the outstanding players in the French top flight last summer. He featured 36 times for Claude Puel’s troubled Nice side, scoring four goals and impressing with both his forays forward and his attacking inventiveness.
