LVG set for another summer of big spending.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal looks set to put the finishing touches on a £52m triple deal this summer, with Morgan Schneiderlin the latest to make his way to Old Trafford.
According to The Sun, the Southampton midfielder will become the latest summer signing by the Red Devils, following on from announcements on Italian right-back Matteo Darmian and German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger over the weekend.
The French international, who has already had a medical, will cost £24m, The Sun says, on top of roughly £13m and £15m paid for Darmian and Schweinsteiger, respectively, and make it another summer of big spending after last year’s high-profile recruits of big names like Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw.
Memphis Depay joined the Reds earlier in the summer and is another exciting prospect for the club ahead of the new season, with Van Gaal looking increasingly like building a title-challenging squad.
This will come as disappointing news for Arsenal, however, with the Daily Star recently claiming the Gunners were also in talks with Schneiderlin over a possible transfer to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
However, United look to have got one over their rivals in this case, in what could potentially go down as a crucial move as both sides look in need of improving their central midfield options if they are to close the gap on champions Chelsea in 2015/16.
