Benteke to Liverpool moves a step closer.
Brendan Rodgers looks set to make his seventh signing of the summer and bring Christian Benteke to Liverpool for a fee of £32.5m, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Reds have already completed six signings in this transfer window, bringing in the likes of Roberto Firmino, James Milner and Danny Ings, and it looks like Benteke could be the latest big-name addition.
The Liverpool Echo claims that the Merseyside giants have agreed to pay the Belgian international’s £32.5m release clause at Villa Park, which should now help push the move through as the player is known to be keen on playing in Europe, as reported by the Daily Mail earlier this summer.
The 24-year-old scored 15 goals last season to help Villa survive relegation from the Premier League, whilst also guiding the club to a surprise place in the FA Cup final. Benteke himself scored against Liverpool in the semi-final at Wembley, showing his big-game ability and clearly impressing opposition manager Rodgers.

Benteke would become Liverpool’s second most expensive signing of all time if he completes this move, with the £32.5m fee second only to the £35m the club reportedly paid to sign Andy Carroll back in 2011, as stated by BBC Sport.
Liverpool may have missed out on the Champions League last season, but that has not stopped them doing some fine business this summer, with Benteke possibly the latest to line up in a new-look attack.
