Arsenal transfer blow as long-term target agrees personal terms with European giants

Arsenal target and Schalke 04 forward Julian Draxler is on the verge of completing a move to Juventus.

According to the Express, the Germany international has been offered a wage of £50,000 per-week by the Serie A giants and has agreed personal terms on a move to Turin this summer.

The British newspaper state that Draxler recently emerged as a primary transfer target for Massimiliano Allegri – and he appears to have quickly won the race for the attacker’s signature.

As stated by talkSPORT, the 21-year-old has been a long-term target for Arsene Wenger; however, with no concrete offer having been tabled by the French manager, perhaps he was left unconvinced by the young winger’s progression over the past season.

Draxler made just eight starts and seven substitute appearances in the Bundesliga last term – receiving only 774 minutes of action in Germany’s top flight.

Goal reported earlier this year that there were once fewer players than the Schalke ace – once dubbed the ‘German Cristiano Ronaldo’ – in higher demand across Europe.

However, Goal state that a combination of injury and pressure has consequently seen his form, and thus performances, take a significant hit – though it seems to have not deterred Juve’s desire to land the youngster.

With Arsenal seemingly uninterested in Draxler, reports suggest that the north London heavyweights may be considering a move for his international team-mate Marco Reus.

According to the Telegraph, Wenger is prepared to battle Liverpool for the signature of the Borussia Dortmund star.
