Liverpool joined by Premier League side in race for France international

West Ham United have joined AS Roma in the race to sign PSG star Lucas Digne, reports Tuttomercatoweb [via Metro].

Liverpool have also been linked to the 22-year-old [Goal], meaning that it will be a hard battle for the Hammers to get their man. The East London outfit have made a £5.6 million offer for the player according to TMW, but it is unknown whether the Ligue 1 champions will accept such a low bid after he moved to the Parc des Princes for €15 million back in 2013 [ESPN].

There is a high level of interest in the France international after two seasons in which he has made a total of 30 appearances for the Parisians.

The Merseyside club are interested in the defender after Alberto Moreno failed to impress in his debut season. Similarly, fellow left-back Jose Enrique seems to have fallen out of favour with Brendan Rodgers, meaning the position could be a weak spot ahead of a key season.

The Reds need to get back in to the Champions League to avoid being left behind by the sides who do qualify for it.

Meanwhile, West Ham need reinforcements to make sure they are still in the top flight come their move to the Olympic Stadium in a year’s time. Although, with Aaron Cresswell already at the Boleyn Ground, it is debatable whether left-back is a position that Slaven Bilic particularly needs to bolster.
