Man United will complete sixth summer signing on Tuesday

Manchester United will sign Barcelona forward Pedro on Tuesday, according to Spanish source Sport (via The Daily Telegraph).

The 28-year-old Spanish international started the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup final against Athletic Bilbao earlier this week, due chiefly to Neymar being sidelined with the mumps, but he has struggled to retain a foothold in Luis Enrique’s starting eleven over the past year.

Enrique has opted to use Neymar alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez as his first-choice three-pronged attack, and Barcelona duly romped to a superb treble last season, leaving Pedro largely out of the starting XI.

Pedro made just 15 La Liga starts in 2014/15, and according to many reports, the Tenerife born forward looks set for a summer exit (via ESPN).

Louis van Gaal has seen his Old Trafford side secure two wins from their opening two Premier League fixtures, but the 1-0 triumphs over Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa have not suggested that Man United’s attack is firing on all cylinders.

Van Gaal elected to sell Robin van Persie to Fenerbahce over the summer and could well do with a fresh option in the final third, particularly having also lost on-loan forward Radamel Falcao.

Memphis Depay was brought in from PSV Eindhoven, and Pedro can similarly fill both wide and central striking roles. He is a versatile forward with a wealth of top-level experience.
