REVEALED: Bastian Schweinsteiger cost Manchester United JUST £6.3m

Manchester United‘s acquisition of Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich could turn out to be the bargain of the summer, following claims that his transfer fee is less than first reported.

According to German-based media publication Bild [via Independent Sport], the 31-year-old cost the Red Devils just £6.3million instead of the £15million fee that was touted upon his arrival at Old Trafford last month.

Schweinsteiger’s departure from the Allianz Arena came as somewhat of a shock to many as he looked destined to see out his career in Bavaria, however, fresh details of this transfer shows United have got a bargain for a player with so much experience under his belt.

The Germany national team captain is yet to start a game for the Red Devils as he has been limited to substitute appearances in the club’s opening three games of the new season, as manager Louis van Gaal looks to build up the midfielder’s match fitness ahead of a grueling campaign.
