Tottenham make third and fourth bids for £25m striker

Tottenham have seen a third bid for West Brom star Saido Berahino turned down with just hours of the transfer window to go, according to Press Association journalist Nick Mashiter.

The North London club have now seen three offers for the 22-year-old turned down this summer, with the Baggies demanding £25 million for the striker [Daily Mirror]. However, this hasn’t stopped Spurs from making a fourth offer for the youngster, who scored 20 goals in 45 appearances last season. It is unknown whether this is going to be their final effort to sign the player.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino is likely on the lookout for a new forward to take some of the goalscoring burden from Harry Kane’s shoulders. They have already signed Clinton N’Jie from Lyon this summer, but the Argentine will surely want another in the position after losing Roberto Soldado to Villarreal.

Tottenham have also seen their chances of signing Southampton ace Victor Wanyama disappear, with Sky Sports believing that the midfielder is going to stay with the south-coast outfit. This is another blow for the club, with defender Eric Dier having to play in the middle of the park in the early stages of the season. With the Kenya international staying put, they may have to rely on the England Under-21 international until at least January.
