Manchester United yet to receive enquiries for Barcelona target

Manchester United are yet to receive any enquiries for Ander Herrera, reports the Daily Mail.

The 26-year-old is a target for Barcelona and Valencia according to the Mail, but neither of the Liga BBVA duo have made a move as of yet. The interested clubs have been given hope of signing the player by the arrivals of Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger this summer, who have largely kept their fellow midfielder out of the side so far.

However, manager Louis van Gaal still sees the Spaniard as a key part of his squad, especially with the Champions League to play in this season. The former Athletic Bilbao man ended the last campaign in fine form, and he is happy to stay at Old Trafford despite being disappointed with losing his place in the team.

The Red Devils will be keen to see that this doesn’t end in a similar situation to David De Gea’s transfer saga with Real Madrid. The 24-year-old was set to join Los Merengues until some of the necessary paperwork was handed in late [BBC].

Since then both clubs have blamed each other for the mishap [Man Utd official site & Real Madrid official site], and United won’t want the Blaugrana and Los Che’s interest in Herrera to end similarly. However, if it does, then in Michael Carrick, Schneiderlin, and Bastian Schweinsteiger they have several players to cover any potential deficiencies in the heart in the park.
