£45m-rated PSG striker hints summer transfer to Arsenal WAS on the cards

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has dropped a major hint that he could have joined Barclays Premier League giants Arsenal in the summer, Star Sport reports.

The 28-year-old was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium on transfer deadline day earlier this month as Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was reportedly in the French capital with hopes of sealing a £45million deal for the Uruguayan international.

However, a deal did not come to fruition and Cavani remained with the reigning Ligue 1 champions but he revealed to the media that a departure from the Parc des Princes was a possibility:

“Many transfer opportunities presented themselves,” he told French publication Journal du Dimanche.

“But PSG has always trusted me, this is the club who can give me what is better.”

“If it could happen like in the second half of the season, with very good results that make me want to continue on this path,” Cavani added.

Cavani has set about proving he should be the club’s first choice centre-forward at the start of the new season as he has netted a brace in each of his last two games for PSG and will be hoping to continue his hot streak in front of goal against Swedish outfit Malmo in the UEFA Champions League group stage opener on Tuesday night.
