According to reports, Bayern Munich fear that coach Pep Guardiola has already agreed a move to join Manchester City in the summer, even though the Barcelona great is understood to favour a switch to Manchester United.

The Mirror report that the Bavarian giants are anxious that their manager is set to ditch them at the end of the year and move to the Etihad Stadium.

The club were left disappointed in October when Guardiola—who has taken Bayern to the top of the Bundesliga this term—rejected their lucrative new contract offer [Mirror], indicating that he was not purely motivated by the fiscal reward of a club, but also by the challenge posed by each individual case.

The tabloid understand that Bayern may well be giving up in their hopes of keeping the former Spain international, with the club accepting that Pep looks set to switch to Manchester City.

However, reports in Spain—as per the Mirror as above—which note that Guardiola has already agreed a deal are not true.

In fact, the Telegraph report on Sunday that Guardiola isn’t set on a switch to City at all, and would actually prefer a move to join Manchester United as Louis van Gaal’s replacement.

The source notes that Guardiola has identified United as his ideal destination next summer as he looks to move on from Bayern, although it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils are ready to part ways with van Gaal, despite a series of underwhelming showings this season.
