Chelsea flop told he will not be returning to Ligue 1 giants

Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao will remain at the club until the end of the season after Monaco ruled out the possibility of an early return due to injury.

The Colombian international has struggled at Stamford Bridge this season after former boss Jose Mourinho took him to the club on a season-long loan deal.

While a thigh injury has kept him sidelined since October, he returned to Monaco earlier this week to undergo further tests and to determine how serious the issue is.

However, the French outfit have insisted that that is as far as their involvement will go with Falcao for the remainder of the season, as their intention is to allow him to remain in London.

“Falcao is currently injured. He has six to eight weeks to go like that. We have decided not to take him back to Monaco for the moment,” vice-president Vadim Vasilyev said, as reported by Sky Sports.

The former Atletico Madrid star has seemingly lost his way in the last two years after failing in a similar spell with Manchester United last season.

Having scored just one goal so far this year coupled with the likes of Diego Costa and Loic Remy standing in his way in his bid to get into the starting lineup, it remains to be seen how much of an impact the 29-year-old can really make.

With his contract with Monaco set to expire in 2018, it is unlikely that the club will see a significant return on their £52m investment, with Falcao still desperate to rediscover the magic that he displayed in Spain.
