Tottenham Hotspur hope £18m bid for top-10 striker enough for club to sell

Tottenham Hotspur have the fewest goals allowed in the Premier League and the third most goals scored, but the team has still been actively looking for a second starting forward behind Harry Kane. They may have identified their target in West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, but may have to overpay to ensure a winning bid.

According to the Mirror, the Spurs are preparing a bid of £18 million for the 22-year-old West Brom striker. Berahino has made just eight starts for the club this year but has been subbed in 10 times. He allegedly tried to force a move out of West Brom at the end of 2015 after being denied a summer transfer. The Baggies are believed to be uninterested in selling Berahino per the source.

Despite making only eight starts, Berahino is tied for the club lead in goals this season with three. Last year he finished tied for sixth in goals scored with 14 goals, matching the marks of Olivier Giroud and Eden Hazard.

Berahino scored 10 goals in 11 caps for the England Under-21 team from 2013 to 2015.
