Man United ready to listen to offers for Juan Mata as Barcelona step up interest

Manchester United are said to be willing to listen to offers for likeable forward Juan Mata, according to the Daily Star.

Reports surfaced on Sunday claiming that the La Liga champions were lining up a surprise bid for the Spanish international, and today it is now believed that United could be willing to listen to their offer.

The Red Devils splashed out what was a then club transfer record £37.1m fee when he joined from Chelsea in January 2014, but has failed to find any kind of consistent form since then.

So far this term he has notched up 23 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and managing four assists, but the 24-year-old is believed himself to be open to a return to Spain.

Barcelona had their own transfer ban lifted last month and are now under the same restrictions as everybody else, meaning they too will have to complete their business by the deadline tonight.
