Man City in advanced talks to sign world-class Real Madrid strike target; two defenders could follow

Manchester City could be about to pull off one of the signings of the summer, with reports claiming that they are in advanced negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

According to Sky Sports, the Citizens are on the verge of beating Real Madrid to the signature of the Gabonese international striker, who scored 25 goals in only 29 Bundesliga goals last season.

That total was only bettered by Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, and helped propel Aubameyang, who was nevertheless named Bundesliga Player of the Year, into the pantheon of world-class forwards.

The Daily Mail reports that the 26-year-old is valued at around £58m. He would be Pep Guardiola’s second signing from Dortmund, following last week’s capture of midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

Sky Sports understands that Guardiola wants to add five players who would go straight into City’s starting lineup, and also has Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte and Everton’s John Stones in his sights.

While it seems that Guardiola wants to bolster City’s defence, signing Aubameyang and pairing him with Sergio Aguero would give the Blues a forward partnership to be feared across the Premier League.
