Zlatan Ibrahimovic mystery as Manchester United target drops new hint

With his future yet to be revealed, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has seen his contract with Nike end and wore Adidas boots in Sweden training this week.

His long-term agreement with the giants expires this summer, and he has now confirmed that he will no longer remain with them as he seemingly looks set for a partnership with Adidas.

Naturally, given that Manchester United are also sponsored by the sportswear giants, it has led to unsurprising claims by many that it’s another step towards the 34-year-old moving to Old Trafford ahead of next season.

That’s a fair assumption though given that the general pattern for some of the top stars is that they’re with clubs that share the same main sponsor, and this would certainly help with a move to Manchester.

However, what many are failing to acknowledge is the fact that both Bayern Munich and AC Milan are also sponsored by Adidas, with both European giants linked with making a move for the 34-year-old this summer.

In turn, there is no real certainty that the move is aimed at moving closer towards securing a deal with United who will continue to hope to beat out the competition for the Swedish international’s signing this summer.

Meanwhile, it’s worth remembering that Ibrahimovic also has his own range of A-Z football boots, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if even opts to wear his own brand instead.
